North Ocean Park: Reasons to Visit
Regardless of what you want, you’re sure to find it in North Park Ocean. While it could use a few more parking spots, and there aren’t many restaurants and shops within walking distance, this is actually a good thing.
Since there are fewer parking spaces, it means that you’ve got fewer crowds on the beach. There are still going to be plenty of people to watch and talk to when you’re there. They may be from the apartments located nearby or be vacationing in the area. It’s up to you whether you decide to talk to them or not!
You’re also going to appreciate that there aren’t that many restaurants and shops nearby. When you’re at North Ocean Park, you’re going to have a calmer and simpler experience. There’s no loud music, vendors begging you to buy souvenirs, or ice cream cones to drip along the sand in the sun.
Kite Surfing
If you’re into kite surfing, you should know that North Ocean Park has plenty of it. Most of the people bring their own, but there are a few rental locations nearby. In fact, as you enter the area, there’s a sign right there that claims it’s designated as a beach primarily for wind-driven instruments.
Whether you like participating or want to watch, kite surfing is a great sport. Plus, you can also round up people for a volleyball game, play in the sand, sun yourself, or go boogie boarding. You’re sure to find a few people standing in the water just waiting for a wave to surf on. Try your hand at something new or sit and enjoy while others do it.
The Lighthouse
Hillsboro Lighthouse is visible from North Ocean Park, though it’s out in the distance. This is a beautiful structure and mesmerizing for children and adults. Most people recommend that you walk to the jetty and inlet so that you can see it better. Plus, you get a firsthand look at the beach as you go.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk there, and that’s at a slow pace. Once you arrive, you can see the light rotating. You can go on the jetty and walk to the long wood blocks and rocks, as well. Though the lighthouse isn’t considered ‘part’ of North Ocean Beach, it’s a monument to the beauty and serenity of the place.
Regardless of where you go, you can fish, snorkel, and play. This is an amazing experience that everyone wants to encounter at least once.
